Tell us a bit about your family/home life?
"I have a full and happy home life. Matt is my amazing husband, he’s my rock and my soul mate, he keeps our world grounded and ticking along. I have three children aged 20, 18, and 9, so there’s always something going on. I’ve also earned the VIP title of ‘Gigi’ to a beautiful granddaughter. We are lucky enough to all live together on one property, so it’s a lively mix of independence and togetherness, never boring, but always full of love."
What is your go to coffee order?
"I am perfectly happy starting my day with a classic instant coffee. But if I’m treating myself, I’ll almost always go for a caramel latte."
How long have you been in ECE and what led you into leadership?
"I’ve been in ECE for over 17 years. What led me into leadership was a natural passion for supporting both tamariki and teachers, helping others grow, building strong relationships, and creating an environment where everyone feels confident and valued. Leadership, for me, is about being alongside others, not above them."
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
"4 Non Blondes - What’s Up."
What do you believe makes a great learning environment for tamariki?
"A great learning environment is one where tamariki feel safe, respected, and truly seen for who they are. It should be a place full of warmth, curiosity, and opportunity, where their interests are valued, their culture is celebrated, and they’re encouraged to explore and take risks in their learning. Relationships are at the heart of it all."
Morning person or night owl?
"Night owl, although I am finding myself wanting my bed time to creep earlier and earlier these days, night time is less rushed and more time for family."
What is your favourite children’s book?
"I don’t think I have just one favourite children’s book. I really enjoy Dr Seuss stories, they’re fun, playful, and full of imagination. I also love books you can sing along to, like Wonky Donkey… although you probably shouldn’t count on me for a great singing performance!"
What message would you like to share with our families/whānau?
"That your children are at the centre of everything we do. We value the trust you place in us and see ourselves as partners in your child’s journey. Open communication, respect, and connection with whānau are incredibly important to me, and I want you to always feel welcomed, heard, and included."
What is one thing you hope every child feels when they walk through our doors?
"That this is a place where they are safe, valued, and excited to be. Where they can be themselves, build friendships, and know that they are cared for every single day.
